Counseling
How to know it's time to talk to a counselor
You don't need a crisis to book a session. Here are the ordinary signs that a conversation with a professional would help, and what the first one is actually like.

Most people wait too long. Not because they're stubborn, but because they're waiting for a moment that feels serious enough to justify it. Counseling isn't an emergency room. It's closer to a good conversation with someone whose whole job is to help you think clearly.
Signs it would help
- The same problem keeps coming back, and your usual ways of handling it aren't working anymore.
- You've stopped doing something you used to enjoy, and you can't quite say why.
- People who know you have gently mentioned that you seem different.
- You're fine at work and falling apart at home, or the other way around.
- A change is coming, or just happened: a move, a diagnosis, a breakup, a new baby, a loss.
- You keep having the same argument, with the same person, about the same thing.
None of these mean something is wrong with you. They mean something is worth looking at with help.
What the first session is like
You talk. The counselor mostly listens and asks questions, and by the end you'll usually have a clearer picture of what's going on and a sense of whether the two of you are a fit. Nothing is decided in the first session. You don't need a diagnosis, a plan, or the right words.
It's fine to say "I'm not sure why I'm here." That's a perfectly good place to start.
How it works with your membership
Your membership includes up to ten counseling sessions per life event with a licensed counselor, in your language. You can book from the app, and if you'd rather talk to someone first, our line is answered live, any hour, at (833) 354-2691.
If you're not ready for a person yet, that's what Zenn is for. It's an AI wellness companion, not a therapist, but it's a good place to sort through what you'd want to say. Plenty of people talk to Zenn first and book a counselor a week later.
The best time to talk to someone was a while ago. The second best time is this week.
